Here's some reasons I don't necessarily play songs.

Let me explain. My dad tells me I never play songs. I said there's reasons behind all that. So let me begin.

A bad audience can make playing and performing very difficult. See disrespect and being misled and being made fun of. More would be lots of the songs can seem to have semi suicidal ends to them whether that's Kobane or Hendrix or Brian Jones of the Stones. Also it seems like all those songs you know of are copyrighted and I don't want to get sued see how youtube will mute you if you do that some people aren't serious and they'll find the venue won't tolerate that.

Also with the entertainment industry where is this actually going? I have obligations I kept like my family or accountability like being in the background of the office. Don't I have a good gig now also I had integrity where I refused to do things the wrong way? Haven't I made progress?

More? Ok so my lessons on how I got to this. I went to college and the artschool showed me that you could be more hip being avante garde. So there's an example playing along with the school system's referencing format I bring up Lee Ranuldo of Sonic Youth (very respected and original) I saw him live and he did what I saw many do wing it he'd play weird tunings and make up poetry on the spot that was entertaining.

Next I have some songs of my own. I wrote an album all original in Germany. I have maybe two big singles from that break out release. These had stylistic references like the Beatles or Dylan (another footnote is it appears that there's always some dealbreaker trivia about these people I didn't know in the beginning like John Lennon's mom's death but there's loopholes like bluegrass or a tribute group).

So attempting this I have played live and self published lots of material not just guitar or piano but artwork or indie films family holidays I make this accessible to everyone and share. So a story was Les Paul was a jazz guitarist (I saw many people use this style guitar at the nightclub live and even generic versions of it like a epiphone) and when I studied jazz vinyls things could go from one thing to the next and have a non linear format sampling this idea I would throw lyrics from singles I gathered myself through the years (modern rock or band music) and switch songs. Another reasons was staying the course on the song seemed like it could be a troublesome trajectory as opposed to switching topics or being natural and even responding with feedback being in the moment and talking back to the audience even having some showmanship. Some of this too was Keith Richards said he was familiar with jazz and that subject being a American response to the British invasion the Americans and blacks would ramble or do scat too improvisation that being the anchor to USA music.

I am not a band. I am one person doing all the parts myself. I thought some musicians can be untrustworthy and I am trustworthy. I am honest and sincere and doing this for free and positively and have lots of experience and knowledge.

So I have different parts I have to focus on and I was doing things original and being aware of all the many ambushes on me where I was responding to everyone in every single way possible. I could do some loose Rolling Stones renditions like knowing the words to honky tonk woman but I am by no means Keith or Ronnie (on the guitar) and there's more trivia about that too as opposed to Bill Wyman. I played to contribute to my parents marriage or counter dementia or support the venue there's references I have too and rapport.

Here's some names off the top of my head that support my style:

  • Roky Erikson of the 13th Floor Elevators I was hospitalized and self wrote some hits. I had modest recognition and success. I have paychecks now.
  • Bill Wyman of the Rolling Stones. I was in the background I was older and a veteran. I could cover anyones song as well as play my own greatest hits list.
  • Kepi Ghoulie I was a one man show. I didn't want to be homeless and I listened about things like getting dental help or homeownership or using a toilet.
  • Seu Jorge I was a francophile. I was around the artschool. I was conventional and available.
  • Jack Johnson I could write poetry and make longboarding videos to accompany it. I paid off my student loan. I am retired.
  • Josh Klinghoffer I was fresh and hip. I could support others. I could pass soundcheck for most any demographic including those with body art tattoos.
  • the list of these goes on with a decade or so of in person references and other formats through the years. Remember Herman Li of Dragon Force? Video game music. Or Gwar and Municipal Waste of Richmond Virginia?
I can read music and have self taught myself a lot of techniques. I could pay a professional and enjoy being in the audience. I was doing this as a hobby I didn't want to have injuries from trying this out. I have studied this a lot from many sources and have become more proficient and fluent in music like Tom Waits as a bar player or other names Dave Von Ronk for open mics.

You want something on the spot and I'll deliver at a moments notice. I have my own stuff others stuff and can take care of myself. I earned what I got and don't have to submit to others scrutiny and incoherency and confrontations. I am happy with my life and have improved it too.

Can someone help with an answer to this scenario? Is this feasible? Should I invest my energy in something else instead? Was instead I meant to have a guitar legacy? Was I tricked and niave? It seems like countless others get away with this and do it the wrong way.

Was this actually to my niave innocent ignorance a extremely stupid idea?

some of my quotes i remembered compiled extracted from fb (that doesn't work)
